One very important answer to the question how to prevent pimples is cleanliness and general hygiene practices. If the general hygiene practices, cleanliness, and self-care steps do not work, one may try over-the-counter acne medications. These lotions are meant for direct and external application to the skin. Usually, the medications contain some standard components like sulfur, benzyl peroxide, salicylic acid and resorcinol. These chemicals are supposed to kill skin bacteria by drying up the oil.
